Diversity

History

The Diversity Committee, which was formed during the 1993-94 academic year, is comprised of faculty and staff members at the Berks Campus. Their purpose is to make the campus community a welcoming educational environment.

In March 1995, a committee at the Berks Campus developed a questionnaire for the students and faculty/staff as part of the campus's diversity efforts. The goal of the data collection was to learn how members of the campus community defined diversity, relative to a list of potential features; their attitudes about the campus climate in general and about the diversity climate; and their experiences with or witness of negative diversity related behaviors.

In the fall of 1998, University Park administation mandated that each college and campus within the University submit a strategic plan for diversity on a five-year schedule.
