Police Chief Kevin Rudy
Kevin Rudy was recently named to the position of Police Chief at Penn State Berks, effective August 1, 2011. In this position, he will be responsible for the overall operation, management, and administration of campus law enforcement and safety services, including the enforcement of national, state, and local laws, as well as University regulations through investigation, apprehension, and prosecution of violators.
 
Rudy has more than 30 years of experience in law enforcement. A graduate of the Reading Police Academy and Alvernia University, where he majored in Criminal Justice, he began his career as Patrol Officer in the Reading Police Department in 1980. He rose to the ranks of Criminal Investigator in the Vice Section in 1987 and Sergeant in the Vice Section in 1993, and then to Sergeant in the Juvenile Division in 2000.
 
Later that year, he joined Penn State Berks Police Services and was promoted to Sergeant in 2007. During his time at the college, Rudy also served as Safety Officer.
 
In addition, he was named Assistant Team Leader to the Berks County Emergency Response Team in 2009, and was designated as a Crisis Negotiator.
