Athletics and recreation has been an integral part of the history and tradition of Penn State Berks. Berks is dedicated to providing the college community the opportunity to participate in athletics at all levels of competition. The varsity athletic programs have evolved from two year sports to now being on the verge of becoming full members of the NCAA D-III. Berks sponsors 12 varsity athletic programs over the three sports seasons with an even split of 6 men's programs and 6 women's programs. The intercollegiate athletic programs compete in the newly created North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC), which consists of 12 schools throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York. The NEAC offers championships in 12 sports over the three sport seasons. Penn State Berks also offers 5 club sports that are not affiliated with the NCAA or North Eastern Athletic Conference. These club sports participate against other institutions in the area and in some cases on a national level. The intramural programs at Penn State Berks round out the athletic opportunites for our students. The intramural programs are offered to the entire college community throughout the course of the year. |
