Submission Guidelines by Type of Submission
- Authors must be undergraduates or recent graduates (within six months of graduation) when the manuscript is submitted.
- We welcome co- and multi-authorships, but all authors must give written permission via email to leg8@psu.edu for the manuscript to be submitted, reviewed and potentially published with or without revisions.
- All manuscripts must be submitted by the student author(s).
- All submissions must be accompanied by a professor's note stating that the essay was written by the student. The professor should e-mail this note to the editor. (Dr. Laurie Grobman LEG8@psu.edu)
- All submissions that cite sources must follow Chicago Manual of Style Author-Date System for documenting sources in the text and in the References page.
- Manuscript submissions should be single-spaced, size 12 points, font Times New Roman. Exceptions to this guideline include Research Done in Partnership with a Community Organization as well as Open Category submissions in diverse formats.
- Submit an electronic copy of manuscript in Microsoft Word to the editor (Dr. Laurie Grobman LEG8@psu.edu).
- Indicate the category for which you are submitting your manuscript in your submission e-mail.
- Include the author's name, address, institutional affiliation, e-mail address(es) and phone number in your submission e-mail.
Approximate Length Requirements:
Reflective Essays
Submissions should be 2-5 single-spaced pages, size 12 points, font Times New Roman.
Analytical Essays
Submissions should be 2-5 single-spaced pages, size 12 points, font Times New Roman.
Research Done in Partnership with a Community Organization, and Reflective Analysis
Submit research in the form given to the organization.
Accompanying reflective essay submissions should be 2-5 single-spaced pages, size 12 points, font Times New Roman.
Research Articles
Submissions should be 6-10 single-spaced pages, size 12 points, font Times New Roman. Essays exceeding 12 pages will not be considered.
Open Category
Submissions should not exceed the equivalent of 12 single-spaced pages, size 12 point, font Times New Roman.
Responses to Previously Published Articles
Submissions should be 2-10 single-spaced pages; size 12 points, font Times New Roman.
