ORIENTATION, ADVISEMENT, & REGISTRATION - SPRING 2014

Thursday, January 9, 2014, Perkins Student Center (PSC)

8:00 a.m. All new students arrive, Multipurpose Room, PSC. Please take this time to get your student ID and access account.

8:30 a.m. Welcome Students and Family Members, Multipurpose Room, PSC

8:45 a.m. Campus Resource Information Session Multipurpose Room, PSC. Important information and procedures regarding the following topics will be discussed: Academic Support Services, Bookstore, Health Services, Housing and Food Services, Information Technology, Library Services, Parking Regulations, Police Services, Student Aid, Career Services, Counseling Services, and Student Services.

9:30 a.m. Family & Parent Orientation, Penn State Room, PSC. Information relevant to student supporters will be shared during this session.

9:30 a.m. Student Life, Multipurpose Room, PSC. This session will discuss the importance of becoming involved in campus life outside the classroom. Topics will include student activities, organizations, athletics, student services, student expectations, and responsibilities.

10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Tour of Campus, 1st Floor Lobby, PSC. The Orientation Leaders  will guide you around the campus. Crucial to your academic  success at the Berks campus is a knowledge and orientation of the library, computer labs, tutoring center, classrooms and support services. 

10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Picture Yourself at Penn State, Tully’s, PSC. Stop by Tully’s and pose for a picture with the Nittany Lion!  

11:00 a.m. Advisement and Registration, Room 101, Franco Building. This session is for all new degree, non-degree, and provisional students who have taken the placement exam, but have not scheduled or registered for classes.

11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Lunch, Tully’s & Cyber Café, Gaige. Tully’s & Cyber Cafe will be open for lunch. 

Sunday, January 12, 2014, Ivy House

9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Residence Hall Check-in for all New Residential Students, Ivy House. New resident students move into the residence halls and then participate in residence hall orientation at 3:00 p.m. See your Resident Assistant (RA) or call 610-396-6290 for more information.  

In case of inclement weather, call the Penn State Berks Weatherline at 610-396-6375 for updates on campus closures. If the campus is closed on Thursday, this Orientation program will occur on Friday.  Important information will be distributed at the Orientation Program.  In the event of an unavoidable absence, please stop by Room 19 of the Perkins Student Center on the first day of classes to pick up your information.

May 2 Classes end.  Last day to withdraw

May 5-9 Final exam period
