Scholarship Opportunities at Penn State Berks

At Penn State Berks we are happy to offer a number of different scholarships to our current Berks students and to new incoming students.

Scholarships for First Year incoming students

First year students offered admission to our college are automatically considered for merit based awards.  For the best chance of receiving a merit based scholarship we strongly recommend that First Year students have their admissions application completed and submitted with all supporting materials by Penn State’s Priority Application Deadline of November 30th along with a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form by the priority filing date of March 1st.

Merit based scholarships are awarded upon review of academic credentials shown in the admission application. Students do not apply for these scholarships.

If a student is awarded a Berks merit scholarship, the student will receive a letter in the mail separate from the admissions offer packet.

Scholarships for Transfer incoming students

Transfer students offered admission to our college are automatically considered for merit based awards.
Merit based scholarships are awarded upon review of academic credentials shown in the admission application and sometimes the information provided in the FAFSA form. Transfer Students do not apply for these scholarships, but are encouraged to work with James McCarty at jmcarty@admissions.psu.edu or 610-396-6462 to further discuss Transfer Scholarship opportunities.

If a student is awarded a Berks merit scholarship, the student will receive a letter in the mail separate from the admissions offer packet.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements for Returning Penn State Berks Students

Current students who would like to be considered for our various campus scholarships must complete a FAFSA and are strongly encouraged to complete the Penn State Berks Returning Student Scholarship Application by May 1st.

**To receive a Returning Student Scholarship it is not required to submit the application.  You may receive a scholarship without it but for the best chance of receiving one at the maximum amount it is in the student’s best interest to complete and submit the application.**

Applications are available after Spring Break in the Financial Aid Office (Room 6, Perkins Student Center) and through the Berks website.  The application can be found by clicking on this link.

Annual awards are made from a variety of funds, typically ranging in amount from $1250 to $1500.
Awards are based upon demonstrated academic performance and financial need.

Most Berks Campus Scholarships are not automatically renewable. Students will be considered each year.

To be considered for a Penn State Berks Scholarship current students must:
·        Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA, fafsa.gov)
·        Have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher at the end of the spring semester
