More and more in today's society it seems that that everyone
wants to be a leader and think for themselves. Everyone has their
own way of acting in certain situations. We believe there are only
two types of acceptable English or spoken language: Black English
and Standard English. Growing up in a vast culturally diverse community
it is a must for one to speak both acceptable languages. The language
one speaks in directly reflective of the background they have grown up
around. In today's society Standard English is almost always appropraite
but sometimes a must in certain circumstances.
Standard English is basically just a well-versed knowledge
of English which includes being articulate. Now don't get us
wrong Black English has a history in African American languages.
It is a must for all whites to be able to speak both and vice versa.
Take, for instance, a business professor at an all white school, does he
need to know black english in order to fit in? The answer is no,
but we forsee the opposite side as well. The same teacher at an all
black school would have to have the knowledge in black english.
