This assignment is due no later than Monday, April 26th at the beginning of your class period. If this assignment is turned in on time and completed with integrity, I will replace a missed participation day with credit for that day. Extra credit is a privilege, not a right, and therefore points are not guaranteed you for turning in this extra credit project. Only those who complete the assignment appropriately will be given full credit. By appropriately I mean that it must be evident that you have thought seriously about what you turn in—simply writing something down to fill up a blank space won't work.
In order to complete this assignment you will need to observe an outside speaker and write up an evaluation of the presentation. You need to turn in the program from the lecture if one is available and write up a short paper generally reviewing and critiquing the presentation. If you cannot attend an outside lecture, you may write on one of the speakers from the "Great Speakers" series in the library. Based on what we've talked about in class, was it a good presentation? What needed work? What strategies might you borrow from the speaker? Was it organized? Delivered well? Well-supported with research? In other words, how did this person measure up to the strategies we've talked about in class?.
The paper must be typed, double-spaced and in 12 point font. A minimum of 2 pages is required to complete the assignment and gain full credit and no assignments will be accepted late. You can turn the assignment in as soon as you're done or wait until the final deadline to turn it in. You are allowed to complete a maximum of 2 outside speaker assignments.
